Congratulations to Mark Milton and his wife Deb, our featured husband and wife team! Mark is a talented woodworker who enjoys creating unique pieces ranging from smaller items like pens and whistles to larger pieces including bowls, kitchen wares, "magic wands" and more.
Mark has been a woodworker for over 35 years and Deb has helped his business grow with her expertise in design and business. Six years ago Mark purchased a small lathe and became hooked on the process of turning to produce interesting and unique items. He enjoys working with the natural characteristics of raw wood and experimenting with different techniques and materials. Mark now owns two lathes and spends most of his free time either turning items or preparing wood for his next project. Come join us for the Crab Festival on Saturday, June 10th! We have a limited number of spaces available for artists to sell their handcrafted items, call (301) 997-1644 for details. Spaces must be reserved no later than June 5th, proceeds benefit the Leonardtown Lions Club.
Congratulations to Debra Makowski, our featured Artist of the Month! Debra has quite the extensive experience of creating and crafting (since she was in kindergarten she says!). Coming up with new ideas and creating almost anything that has to do with fibers keeps her busy- crocheting, knitting, basketry, weaving, sewing, & more! She does it all!
Debra is originally from the Seattle area but has lived in St. Mary's County for 17 years now. After a rewarding career of working with Special Education students for over 26 years, Debra has recently retired but continues to keep busy with her artwork and also enjoys spending time with her family and 6 grandchildren (all who have sported beautiful baby hats at one time or another!). Custom orders are readily accepted and many of her items would make great Mother's Day presents (hint, hint!). Come meet Debra at the shop or leave a message for her if you would like to place a Special Order. |
